What to Expect on PSAT/NMSQT
The PSAT is a standardized test that offers first hand practice for the SAT. The PSAT allows test-takers to prepare for the SAT and become familiar with the types of questions and directions that will be seen on the SAT. NMSQT is the same test as the regular PSAT, only the qualifications are different.

SAT Updates (2024)
The SAT has moved from a paper and pencil exam to all online. The new digital SAT is structured into two main sections: Reading/Writing and Math, with a total test duration of 2 hours and 14 minutes. Students will have 64 minutes for the Reading and Writing section and 70 minutes for the Math section. Read more to learn about the updates and changes to the exam.

ACT Info (2024)
The ACT test consists of four multiple-choice sections— English, mathematics, reading, and science—with an optional writing section. Some colleges and universities require or accept ACT writing scores, so you may consider taking the writing section.
The essay is optional depending if a specific university requires it or not. Most do not. Check to see if the colleges you are applying to have it as a requirement.
How Colleges Consider SAT+ACT
As of Spring 2023, the following universities have updated their SAT/ACT test requirements. There are three different exam trends:
test-blind, test-optional, and test required. When applying for college, be sure to check their test requirements to know what category they fall in.
